Started in 1903, Salesianum School is a Catholic all-boys school in Wilmington, Delaware with a rich tradition in developing young men in faith, academics, and athletics. Their name comes from St. Francis de Sales, often called "the gentleman saint."
In 2008, Salesianum began strategic planning for an $8 million campaign to fund new athletic and academic facilities. Advancement Partners was brought in for case development, and began a process of surveying constituents through focus groups, an online survey, and one-on-one meetings.
It eventually became apparent that while there was enthusiasm for upgraded facilities, there was also a large amount of enthusiasm for increased tuition assistance through Salesianum's endowment.
With guidance from Advancement Partners' data from the case development phase, the Salesianum board retooled the campaign to include $2 million of tuition assistance in the campaign, leading to a $1 million matching gift for tuition endowment.
According to Father Dalton, Salesianum's Present, Advancement Partner's capital campaign guidance has helped target their campaign for maximum involvement and support.
"Advancement Partners showed up how to listen to our constituents to create a campaign that is in line with their goals as well as ours. They outlined where the desire to give among our potential donors was, and partnered with us to turn that into results in our campaign."
As of winter 2012, Salesianum is halfway to their goal and well on their way to reaching the $8 million mark on schedule.
